Q: How long have you been involved in theatre?
Long enough to know that my big break is right around the corner. But seriously, I have been around the theater, mostly with improv and comedy, since I was in middle school.
Q: How long have you been involved with Pegasus Theatre?
I’m a Pegasus newbie, first show.
Q: Any favorite moments in your career that stand out for you?
I did a scene with Kim Coates and William Fichtner for a TV show filming in Dallas a while back. Fichtner was probably a more recognizable name and face to most, but for me, it was working with Kim that had me giddy. I grew up watching Kim. He usually plays weird and deranged characters, or bad guys, really great bad guys. Doing a scene with a guy you have spent a lot of time quoting as a kid is pretty surreal. I like surreal.
Q: You’re currently in rehearsals for The Naughty Bits. The press release says it’s developed by The Naughty Bit players. How does that work?
We all bring in material, pass it around, read through it, give and take notes, then find ways to make it our own through the vision of the director and improvisation. It’s a unique cast, lots of range and perspectives, makes for a wide variety of sketches.
Q: What do you do when you aren’t working with Pegasus?
I ride bikes, often and a lot. I also spend considerable time contemplating the unknowable. Things like Black Hole Creation theory, which theorizes that creation is in an endless cycle of explosion and collapse from one colossal black hole that spawns new creations and oblivions, forever, into eternity…or the Simulation Argument, which theorizes that we are all simulations…our consciousness, and reality as we know it, is nothing more than 1’s and 0’s in a computer program. Or perhaps the most perplexing thought experiment of them all, what color is the sky in Ben Schroth’s World. [Editor’s note: Ben Scroth (aka Budji) is a fellow cast member and resident personality.]
Q: What comes next for you?
I am currently writing a screenplay called Budji, The Ben Schroth Story…not sure yet who I will cast as the lead.
