What is RadioVizion?

RadioVizion® is an alternative technique devised by Pegasus Theatre for the presentation of the Living Black & White® series of Harry Hunsacker adventures. RadioVizion® does not employ the trade-secret makeup but instead focuses on evoking the experience and glamour of being in a live radio studio of the 1930s and 1940s. Live sound effects, actors using period-style live microphones, and costumes suggestive of the era complete the effect. Join us for a RadioVizion® presentation of this comedy-murder mystery, where you are the studio audience for a “live” radio broadcast!

Pegasus Theatre Presents:

DEATH/Take:1!

Written by Kurt Kleinmann

Directed by Raymond Banda

Adapted for RadioVision by John Harvey

This is a very special time to present DEATH/Take:1!, as it is directly related to the super-successful production this past March of Mystery at the Old Café by Patty Lewis. Both plays (DEATH/Take:1! and Mystery at the Old Café) start at the same point in time. Lt. Foster, of the Metropolitan Police, has just gotten trapped on an ocean liner with Harry Hunsacker, would-be actor turned would-be detective, and Nigel Grouse (Harry’s paid-by-the-hour assistant and friend) as unwanted travel companions. Foster telegrams Bubbles, his bride-to-be, giving her the bad news that he will miss their wedding. At that point, the story of Bubbles and her gal pals is chronicled in Mystery at the Old Café, while Foster’s journey (with Harry and Nigel) is portrayed in DEATH/Take:1!

The Story: The year is 1938. After getting trapped on an ocean liner with Harry and Nigel, Lt. Foster and his friends end up in Egypt. Naturally, they soon stumble across trouble. An action-adventure movie is being shot inside the pyramid our intrepid trio has entered. The hapless film director (Edward Harper), the famous action-adventure star (Monte Riggs), and his leading lady (Mary Ralston) are being bullied by the acid-tongued and all-powerful screenwriter (Lawrence Alexander). With tension thick in the air, it isn’t long before somebody snaps and someone eats a lead sandwich! Harry, Nigel, and Foster must solve this nefarious crime before the killer strikes again! And will Harry ever get that film role he so desperately pursues? Join us for a RadioVizion® presentation of this comedy-murder mystery, where you are the studio audience for a “live” radio broadcast!
