Meet Armando Monsivais, our Sound Designer! Armando has the distinction of being the first person besides Kurt Kleinmann to design sound for a Pegasus Theatre Living Black and White show.
Armando can’t remember a time when he wasn’t fascinated by theatre. He loves how theatre can touch people’s lives and make them laugh. As an actor, when on stage Armando loves those moments when you’re in the zone, when it feels like you control time.
Soon after getting involved in theatre, however, Armando heard this advice: “You can’t excel at both music and theatre. Pick one.” As an accomplished musician and composer, Armando chose music. Luckily for us, after several years Armando rejected that old advice and started getting involved in theatre too. He wrote a bolero for Teatro Dallas and played a wounded soldier in that production. He used his natural curiosity and watched other actors for tips to hone his craft. He grew to admire artists who are meticulous about detail, who carefully craft their delivery.
As if being a musician, composer, and actor weren’t enough, Armando is also a skilled visual artist. He is especially enjoys drawing caricatures and graffiti art. In fact Armando is drawn to anything creative! He seeks opportunities to use that creativity to make a positive difference, give people a smile, and have fun while doing it. “Life is hard enough,” says Armando, “Don’t make it harder!”
On a more personal note, Armando is getting married this month! He has a stepdaughter and a beagle-terrier who is too clever for his own good. Welcome to Pegasus, Armando!
