Yes, it’s another installment of “From the Archives”, our series of photos of interesting objects tucked away in Pegasus Theatre’s inventory! Today we highlight: shirts!
You see, it takes at least three shirts per actor to produce a Living Black & White™ show. While we have made tremendous improvements in the makeup over the years, there is the inescapable fact that some makeup will rub off on the costume, especially at the neck. To keep the makeup stains from building up, we send soiled shirts to the laundry every day and put a clean shirt into the rotation.
So we hang onto men’s white shirts as if they were gold! We currently have over 60 men’s plain white dress shirts in stock, in neck sizes 15 to 21. Our resident costume designer, Jen Madison, is constantly on the lookout for sales on men’s white shirts and will stock up if she finds an especially good deal. Because sadly even with daily washings, they don’t last forever!
By the way, if you are ever in a position to donate either men’s plain white dress shirts OR the services of a good cleaner, contact us at [email protected]! You’ll be our hero!
