Wolf's head caneIf you’ve been a Pegasus Theatre fan for a few years, you probably remember our werewolf show, Full Moon Murders! by Kurt Kleinmann, produced in January 2008. One of the more unusual props we had to acquire was a cane with a silver wolf head.

Kurt Kleinmann, our artistic director and the playwright for our Living Black & White™ series, gets a great deal of artistic satisfaction out of being true to his original source material. In this case, the primary source material was the series of Wolfman films starring Lon Chaney Jr. And in the first film of that series, Lon Chaney Jr’s character acquires a cane with a silver wolf head. So it was only natural to have one in Full Moon Murders!

This wasn’t just any wolf-head cane, mind you! It was an exact replica of the original cane used in the film and was made from the same mold. And while it wasn’t made out of silver, it sure was heavy!

Ironically, 2008 was also the year that our executive director Barbara Weinberger had to walk with a cane temporarily due to a hip injury. Imagine her excitement when the wolf-head cane arrived in the mail! And then her disappointment upon discovering that it wasn’t intended for her to use. Such is show biz!
