From the Archives: Mark Mullino’s Pegasus Artwork

Untitled artwork by Mark Mullino

Technically, this artwork isn’t in our archives. It’s too beautiful to languish there. Instead it adorns a wall in the office of our Artistic Director, Kurt Kleinmann.

If you are active in the DFW theatre community, you no doubt know Mark Mullino as a talented musician and music director. What you may not know is that he is also a talented visual artist, with an unmistakable style that sets his work apart.

Mark’s work is bursting with vibrant colors and textures, and it generally has a theatrical link, perhaps to a song from musical theatre. Our Artistic Director, Kurt Kleinmann, saw some of Mark’s work, and he was hooked.

As luck would have it, Mr. Kleinmann had an upcoming anniversary to celebrate, specifically the anniversary of his marriage to our Executive Director (and Lady in Red), Barbara Weinberger. So he commissioned this stunning artwork from Mark, thereby scoring major “husband points” with his wife.

The sequel to this story is that a lucky audience member won a similar piece of art in a raffle we held a few years ago. Who knows perhaps we’ll hold that raffle again, and you’ll have another chance to let Pegasus soar on your walls too!
