Call for Scripts!

As we continue the mission of Pegasus Theatre to produce new and original comedies in a professional setting, highlighting the talents of North Texas theatre artists, we are pleased to announce our first new play festival, Fresh Reads at the Bath House Cultural Center May 18-27, 2017.

Pegasus Theatre invites North Texas playwrights to submit comedic scripts for consideration. All plays will be reviewed by a group of Pegasus Theatre veterans and a final lineup will be selected by the Pegasus Theatre Artistic Director for a reading in May of 2017. Those selected playwrights will have the opportunity for exposure to a loyal, built in audience and will receive a stipend ranging from $50 (one-acts) to $100 (full length plays).

But wait, there’s more!

All plays selected for the festival will be juried by the Pegasus Theatre Artistic Director as well as Pegasus Theatre veterans and audience members to determine a festival winner. This play will receive a full STAGED reading in January 2018 for two Dark Tuesday’s at the beautiful Eisemann Center on the set of our latest Living Black & White™ production.

Details for submissions are listed below. For questions, please contact Sheila Rose at sheila@pegasustheatre.com .

Requirements:

  • All plays submitted for consideration must be comedic in nature (see mission listed above) and unproduced, meaning never before performed anywhere–with the exception of a reading. That’s okay.
  • Submitted plays can be either one-acts or full length.
  • Playwrights should either live in North Texas or have significant ties to North Texas.
  • All submissions must contain full contact information and cast requirements. Scripts should be sent electronically in PDF format to comedy@pegasustheatre.com.
  • Deadline for submissions is March 31, 2017.
  • Winners will be announced on April 24, 2017.
  • Rotating rehearsals will take place May 6-17, 2017. Each play selected will have two or more public readings during the festival.
